Week 1: About The Project

My idea was to come up with a mock cosmetics company and design the packaging for several different products. I want to "create" a natural, affordable skincare line for young adults/adults who have sensitive acne-prone skin. This area of skincare is very personal to me. I never had acne as a teenager, but when I turned 20, it was like acne had erupted all over my face. It wasn't tiny red bumps, it was large, painful, cystic acne that I found to be caused by a change in hormones and stress. I used makeup to cover everything and found that that only made it worse. I had tried every product available and nothing really worked until I started looking into natural skincare. My skin is clear about 75% of the time now but occasionally I still struggle with giant painful bumps. I am really looking forward to researching this business and designing my own "products." Who knows, maybe this will actually inspire me to really make my own skincare line.

I found that this website was really helpful in laying out step by step how to create a skincare line:
How to Market Your Own Cosmetics

There are a ton of natural skincare companies out there already, so it's going to be difficult to find a way to make my line stand out. I want my company to be affordable, with as few ingredients as possible, not tested on animals, and with unique packaging. The packaging and label design is very important to me and I want it to reflect the ideals of my company. If time allows, I also want to create some print advertisements for my company.
